My Approach
I look for the human element first. What makes them them. Then I build around that — blending classical portraiture with pieces of my own life, the media I absorb, the culture I move through. The result is something that feels traditional and personal at the same time.
Every person I’ve photographed is talented in their own right. My job isn’t to create something for them — it’s to find what’s already there and make it impossible to ignore..
Jason Rivera’s work with Vogue is a study in contrast — technically precise and emotionally raw at the same time. From black-and-white fashion editorials that blur the line between movement and stillness, to bold color portraits that command attention without trying to, his Vogue portfolio spans the full breadth of what fashion photography can be.
The images speak for themselves: a model disappearing into a floral gown mid-spin in a park, the fabric indistinguishable from the leaves around her. A man in a black jumpsuit fractured into motion blur — sharp in the center, chaos at the edges. A woman in gold sequins against deep teal, every surface catching light differently. A girl hidden behind a wall of balloons shot from above on a fisheye lens. A portrait of a young man in front of an American flag that says everything and nothing at once.
What runs through all of it is intention. Nothing is accidental. Every frame is earned.
